Here are the key tasks you should be doing in Grade 9 to prepare for applications beyond Halcyon in Grade 12.
Become involved in activities: try to make them meaningful to you with relevant transferrable skills (leadership/teamwork, etc.). This includes community service. Depth of involvement is important because it shows focus and commitment. Focus on quality, not quantity!

Start thinking about the DP courses in which you might be interested and plan accordingly. This can be done in consultation with your teachers, IB coordinator and the University Counsellor.
Plan meaningful summer activities – read, develop a hobby, take a course, join a team and/or volunteer. Many universities also have excellent summer opportunities for High School students. See the lists of summer activities on this site!
Start discussing financial considerations and planning with parents/guardians.
